Hilton Garden Inn Cladding Replacement

The Hilton Garden Hotel Cladding Replacement Project, as an excellent example of a large, modern steel-framed building, with flat cladding and vertical ribbon windows running up six stories.

Covering 7,000m2, there are 164 guest bedrooms, with the ground floor made up of the reception, restaurant, bar and kitchens.

The hotel remained fully operational throughout our works and is located next to the River Clyde and “Squinty Bridge” immediately to the south and east, with the north and west elevations at the back of the Finnieston Quay footpath, and look on to the Finnieston Crane and SEC Armadillo.

A borescope survey identified that there were several issues within the existing silver, cassette cladding panels. A decision was made to replace them and then build up behind, to improve thermal efficiency and ensure that all Technical Standards were met, in respect of fire protection and cavity barriers. The opportunity was taken to change the colour of the hotel and to improve various other elements, including louvres, lighting, wiring, canopies, and sight lines.
